The NDIS supports children aged 0 to 6 who have a developmental delay or disability under its Early Childhood Early Intervention program.

  • Developmental delay for children under 6 years
    • delay in showering, bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, grooming, sleeping.
    • delay in understanding what other people say and communicate
    • delay being understood by other people by using gestures, pictures, words and sentences to communicate
    • Delay in how a child learns, thinks or solves problems
    • remembering information
    • learning new things and skills
    • completing a given task
    • playing skills
    • communicating with peers
    • social awareness

Sometimes the delay can be in when the child moves around the home like sitting, crawling and walking. How they respond to commands. Verbal and non-verbal communication.

A specialist consultant like a Paediatrician and family can identify if a child has developmental concerns or showing early signs of a disability for example ASD or Cerebral Palsy or intellectual disability may be eligible for NDIS support.
